Main propulsion prototype finished

Buoyancy prototype finished with remaining parts. Successful test using two pumps mounted front and rear. Foam used for buoyancy with sliding 0.25kg weight.

Group meet up to build buoyancy and propulsion rig prototypes. Buoyancy prototype using one bilge pump with a four way split proved unsuccessful. Foam decided as a better buoyancy method and decision to have multiple bilge pumps taken.

Group discussion over prototypes and how to go about building them. Pro Engineer model reviewed and refined. Mechanism for propulsion missing but general concept and profile conveyed.

Computer model started. Calculations over dimensions, displaced water and vehicle speed continued. Weekend jobs assigned.

Buoyancy further discussed. Decision to change to displacing water with bilge pumps instead of compressed air. Requirements for next Monday's discussion with staff considered. Thoughts considered on prototypes of propulsion and buoyancy control and computer model to aid first presentation.

Calculations from different group members compared. Difficulties in what assumptions to make and what materials are available for test rigs. Further discussion regarding buoyancy control- compressed/ pumped air or bilge pumps?

Entire day spent on obtaining lab space, ROV parts. changed focus from manual buoyancy control to automatic after a test. Have identified prototype should be of propulsion system.

Short meeting to discuss where group is and assign tasks for weekend.

Meeting to again discuss design. Designs from previous years were looked at and analysed.

Budget allocated, materials and procurement detailed. Calculations done to test out current designs and feasibility.

Main design not finalised however multiple concepts have been revised. Discussion regarding buoyancy control, staility and operation of propulsion system.

Group meeting to allocate areas of research over the weekend.

Multiple designs created. Discussions made on how to converge to the best design. Gantt chart created and refined.
